Reflections on one-year study at University of Toronto as a CSC visiting student

Abstract: The China Scholarship Council (CSC) is an institution aiming to improve the training of creative and distinguished postgraduates and enhance the development of China’s higher education. From November 2019 to November 2020, Mr. Bin Yang was sponsored by CSC to perform one-year research at the Centre for Maintenance Optimization and Reliability Engineering (C-MORE), University of Toronto. During his stay, he worked together with Prof. Chi-Guhn Lee on transfer learning and machinery fault diagnosis. In the presentation, Mr. Yang will give a brief introduction of C-MORE and Prof. Lee’s group. In addition, he will share his research work and study experience.

Bio Sketch: Bin Yang is a Ph.D. student in Prof. Yaguo Lei’s group in the School of Mechanical Engineering at Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xi’an, China. He was sponsored by the China Scholarship Council to conduct one-year research as a visiting student from November 2019 to November 2020 under the supervision of Prof. Chi-Guhn Lee at the Centre for Maintenance Optimization and Reliability Engineering, University of Toronto. His research focuses on applications of transfer learning to machinery fault diagnosis.
