Title:Identification of bonding strength for explosive clad pipe utilizing vibration characteristics
Author:Jianbin Cao,Zhousuo Zhang
Abstract: Early detection of poor interface bonding strength for the explosive clad pipe is crucial in order to avoid sudden failure and even catastrophic accidents. The dynamic response characteristics of explosive clad pipe are investigated to explore efficient methods for identifying the bonding strength in this paper. The slender explosive clad pipe is regarded as two parallel Bernoulli-Euler beams continuously joined by a virtual Winkler-type elastic layer, and the elastic stiffness is capable to describe the bonding strength. Then, motion of the explosive clad pipe system is described by a homogeneous set of two partial differential equations. The classical modal expansion method is employed to ascertain dynamic response of the system due to arbitrary distributed continuous loads. After validation of the proposed approach results with results reported by well-known reference, the effects of elastic stiffness on the forced vibration of the explosive clad pipe system are investigated in the case of concentrated harmonic excitation force. Numerical results demonstrate that vibration characteristics of the forced transverse vibration are sensitive to elastic stiffness of the system, and can be used to identify the bonding strength of explosive clad pipe.
